Art direction and strategic communication for a participatory urban planning process in the Arganzuela district of Madrid — El Sitio de mi Recreo, a project aimed at collectively reimagining the school playgrounds of 9 public schools to make them more inclusive, healthy, and equitable spaces for children.
The challenge was to use design and communication not as a finishing layer, but as an active tool throughout the participation process — helping parents, teachers, and especially children themselves express how they wanted their environments to change. The design had to be accessible enough for children without being infantilizing for adults, and political enough to sustain the project's ambition without being heavy.
To contribute to the development of participation, communication, and graphic design were essential to facilitate the information and general content throughout the entire project.
